Senior Personnel
Managing Director: Ms Serresa Shuai (Shuai Hong)
Ms Shuai qualified as a Nurse in 1986, specializing in ICU. She went on to become a nursing trainer, a career lasting fourteen years. Ms Shuai then completed an MBA with the University of South Australia at their Singapore campus (including three months in Adelaide), and an advanced diploma in marketing. After working in the field of overseas study and travel for some years, in late 2003 she formed her own company, Novas, as she felt she could provide a higher standard of support and service than was generally available.
Senior Consultant: Mr Laurence G. Harris
After thirty years of business and management training in Australia, Mr Harris has moved to China to supervise some family business projects. He joined Novas April 2006 to oversee the special professional English teaching, and to further develop the company’s network of overseas links in education and employment. He is editor of WIBGI, our newsletter for English speaking Nanjing.
At Novas we seek to provide a professional and efficient service for employers and educational institutions, as well as the clients we support in China. To this end, we employ a range of personnel, each with their own specialty, to make sure that the highest standards are maintained. Courses
To prepare students for their overseas study, we provide intensive language and cultural training to ensure their education and living experiences have the minimum disruption. The English courses provide a special emphasis on the field of study that they are undertaking.
Study Tours
One of the more rewarding parts of our business is arranging for high school students to experience study and life in another country. For example, our most recent project was sending a small group of students from China for two months in Queensland Australia. There they joined in regular high school classes and undertook intensive English classes. During free time, they were able to explore and experience life in Australia.
Working Overseas
Either as a way of improving their qualifications or adding to their experience, many of our clients are keen to work overseas. This is especially true of nurses, who see great benefit in such experience. In turn, overseas employers gain a dedicated and hard working employee.
Visas
Novas is frequently asked to provide advice and assistance in arranging business and leisure trips to our destination countries such as the UK and Australia. Our extensive business contacts in Australia enable Novas to facilitate commercial opportunities between that country and China. We provide assistance to people when they are applying for Visas.
Migration
Our business and social contacts also enable us to provide an efficient service for people wishing to migrate to Australia.
Destinations
To date, the majority of our students have come from the nursing profession, due to Ms Shuai’s extensive network of contacts and knowledge of this field. We have sent nurses to England, Ireland, Canada and Australia. In addition, we have located nursing staff to work in The United Arab Emirates. Novas has also assisted other companies by conducting initial interviews with prospective employees or students before more detailed interviews were carried out by those overseas companies.
